my daughter made me do a 23andme test...
among other nationalities I see
there is a trace of Neanderthal,,,seriously..
what a crock...

 Quoting: Arnie

I think a lot of them show that. Or, I know I've seen that on others' results at least a handful of times.

I had no idea Neanderthals loved figs so much! tomato
 Quoting: KickinIt

wow, figs,,yeah. They were in the garden of Eden you know,,so they must have been around for very early man.
yeah, that's the connection, that's it.
By the way, my hair is falling out, and when I walk past the dining room mirror I swear my face looks like a fig in that mirror.......probably nothing,,,but still.

You're eating so many figs you're seeing them everywhere!

Mine was through Ancestry, which doesn't do health at this time, but it did get that I am green-eyed and even showed the coloring correctly on their little chart. Basically they are sea eyes, bright green, to grey to blue depending on mood.
 Quoting: WhiteAngel

I might have to do the Ancestry one too.

Here's what my ancestry composition came back as [link to imgur.com (secure)]

And this is the result of my age-related macular degeneration genetic health risk test [link to imgur.com (secure)]

I have both of the variants they tested for. Yikes. Come to find out, my great grandfather had it. I knew he had gone blind (completely blind - both eyes) when I was little, but I never knew why. And I think my mother said that my grandfather (her father) is in the beginning stages of it.

So that blows.

But I didn't have even one variant of the two tested for any of the other genetic health risk tests. There's 6 additional tests they do.

They also do 42 carrier status tests and I didn't have any variants for any of those tests.

I will need a plan for GLP'ing when I'm blind though. Suggestions lol?

 Quoting: Simple27

Just because you have the genes for it doesn’t mean it will happen, always remember that.

Ancestry is better for genealogy but they will soon be doing the health part also and with more detail (per them) than 23andme.

I got kicked off my computer so my hubby can add the new ram to my desk top for my birthday. With all the data and pictures I am putting on there it was running out of room big time. When I can get back on, I will look at your info. There is another place you can upload your raw dna data too and it will give you even more information

It is good soup, I shouldn't have called my dinner boring! I've really been trying to clear stuff out of my freezer. Finally got rid of that last crockpot meal from Omaha Steaks - those were taking up way too much room. Ate some fish the last 2 nights, now eating the soup. I tend to put a lot of stuff in the freezer and it fills up quickly. I sometimes think about getting a deep freezer for the basement. Nothing too big, but just a bit of extra space. As a single person household, I freeze a lot of stuff.

And to answer your question, Simp, no real plans. Just sweet time with family. Smothered green chili tamales from this wonderful little cafe that husband is going to get for me in a little bit, that I just love and yes, lots of cake my daughter is making for me now. Cherry cake with Pink Mountain Frosting that I love love love. Not overly sweet and reminds me of marshmallows but without so much sweetness!
