I need to go get an emissions test this year before I can renew my plate tabs.
Washington State is awful. Here's the itemized fees as listed on the bill. The actual tab fee is in bold.
Details:$3.00 Filing fee funds go to the county in which the fee is paid.
$9.00 Regional Transit Authority tax.
$30.00 License fee funds road construction and maintenance projects.$10.00 Vehicle weight feed funds highway improvements, transit, and other needs.
$0.75 License service supports the computer system used to provide licensing services.
$20.00 Transportation Benefit District fee funds local transportation projects.
$5.00 Service fee retained by subagent, or funds ferry replacement.
$5.00 State Parks
Total:
$82.75
Then on top of that, I think it's like $15.00 or maybe $20.00 to get to emissions test. Which if you don't make and appointment, you usually have sit in line for half and hour.
Keep in mind I have just an average 7 year old 4 door sedan. It's not like I have a fancy sports car or a big Ford F-250 or a BMW SUV. So my total is about as cheap as one can pay for tabs.
I also think the .75 cents computer fee is a sham. Every time you go in to the DMV or a DOL office, they're running Windows '98 and most of the computers are so old you can hear the hum of the hard drives. Wonder where that .75 cents actually goes? Washington has a rounded out population of 7 million.
So that's like 5 and a half million dollars. You think they would at least have better computers then old Gateways and eMachines. LOL
