But the shallow quakes are not a big problem, right? It's the deeper ones? I don't mean to bog down the thread...

Yesterday I talked about the Island Park Caldera that is west of Yellowstone. How they are all shared by hot spots that are under the continent. Soda Springs is due south of Island Park, approximately 150 miles. Island park is in the Targhee National Forest that you can see on the map here:

Really deep quakes like Figi are near the core and are bad. No one may feel them on the surface but what would happen with a huge quake??

Reveler who lept into the flames of blazing effigy in front of 70,000 stunned Burning Man festival-goers has DIED

Crowds were horrified when the reveler made a beeline for the giant wooden effigy and was engulfed by the flames on Saturday night.

He had to dodge a number of rangers and law enforcement personnel in order to reach the fire, which stretches approximately 50 feet into the air.

Festival organizers earlier issued a statement through its website to say that at 'approximately 10.30pm Saturday evening, a male participant at the annual Burning Man event in Northern Nevada broke through a safety perimeter and into into a fire. Black Rock City fire personnel rescued him from the fire.'

LSD had to be involved in this. At least he will not be suffering the pain of such horrific burns.

That's scary... But it sounds like they don't expect an eruption any time soon... Unless maybe they are downplaying it.

The date on this video is wrong - should be 9/3/17.

Nutshell: Expect increase in activity in OK, KS, possibly CO as a result of ID quake. Also west TX - which he acknowledged already had those 2 back to back quakes earlier, but he expects more activity there as well - possibly larger magnitude.

He also said there is a "possible eruption" off the coast of OR, directly related to the 3.5 earlier today. Expect more activity there. He also went on and on about the hiding of quakes in that region (which I agree with, but my god he repeats himself way too much).

As far as the ID quake, oddly he didn't speak about it much as far as any future activity goes, so I guess he's not expecting anything larger there. He did say it's on the flanks of Yellowstone, but not to be concerned it would cause any activity (eruption) there. He did mention it might spark some EQ activity in Yellowstone (nothing major).

Texas faces environmental concerns as wastewater, drinking water systems compromised

The Environmental Protection Agency reported Sunday that more than 800 wastewater treatment facilities have been knocked out of commission by Hurricane Harvey and ensuing floods, and officials are aware of “releases of wastewater from sanitary sewers,” pollution that could cause health risks. The agency has yet to inspect most of the 13 Superfund sites with toxic materials that were flooded or damaged as a result of the storm.

Thousands of people in Southeast Texas still don’t have safe drinking water, including in Beaumont, a city of 118,000 to the east of Houston. So far, the EPA has found that people who are served by 166 water systems are under boil-water orders as a safety measure and that another 50 water systems have been shut down completely.

My pleasure, really! It worked out well - I've been around a lot this weekend. I think the past few weeks at work really wore me out, so I haven't felt like doing much. Went out Friday and since then just been laying low. I feel fine, just tired. Plus, the sleep issue these past few nights. Realized today we're approaching a full moon, so that explains that.

This may just be one of those 'bad' full moons. I still can't help but love her.
