But the shallow quakes are not a big problem, right? It's the deeper ones? I don't mean to bog down the thread...
Quoting: SomeChickontheNet Shallow quakes cause more damage than deep ones. Shallow is bad |

He had to dodge a number of rangers and law enforcement personnel in order to reach the fire, which stretches approximately 50 feet into the air.
Festival organizers earlier issued a statement through its website to say that at 'approximately 10.30pm Saturday evening, a male participant at the annual Burning Man event in Northern Nevada broke through a safety perimeter and into into a fire. Black Rock City fire personnel rescued him from the fire.' [ link to www.dailymail.co.uk] LSD had to be involved in this. At least he will not be suffering the pain of such horrific burns. |

The date on this video is wrong - should be 9/3/17. Nutshell: Expect increase in activity in OK, KS, possibly CO as a result of ID quake. Also west TX - which he acknowledged already had those 2 back to back quakes earlier, but he expects more activity there as well - possibly larger magnitude. He also said there is a "possible eruption" off the coast of OR, directly related to the 3.5 earlier today. Expect more activity there. He also went on and on about the hiding of quakes in that region (which I agree with, but my god he repeats himself way too much). As far as the ID quake, oddly he didn't speak about it much as far as any future activity goes, so I guess he's not expecting anything larger there. He did say it's on the flanks of Yellowstone, but not to be concerned it would cause any activity (eruption) there. He did mention it might spark some EQ activity in Yellowstone (nothing major). |

The Environmental Protection Agency reported Sunday that more than 800 wastewater treatment facilities have been knocked out of commission by Hurricane Harvey and ensuing floods, and officials are aware of “releases of wastewater from sanitary sewers,” pollution that could cause health risks. The agency has yet to inspect most of the 13 Superfund sites with toxic materials that were flooded or damaged as a result of the storm.
Thousands of people in Southeast Texas still don’t have safe drinking water, including in Beaumont, a city of 118,000 to the east of Houston. So far, the EPA has found that people who are served by 166 water systems are under boil-water orders as a safety measure and that another 50 water systems have been shut down completely. |
