Whoa, that's a lot of rain. We ended up with 1.5" overnight Friday - not as much as they thought. And we also missed the severe weather yesterday afternoon-that ended up north and east of us, in Illinois. They really got pounded in central Illinois. So many tornadoes!
Quoting: KickinIt Yeah, I saw some crazy videos coming out of Illinois. There were something like a dozen tornadoes...some of them were very photogenic. Quoting: mistersplinter Just found this on twitter. Looks like a total of 20+ tornado reports in ILL @chayneswx
Saturday brought quite the severe weather event for areas just outside of our viewing area. Despite all the snow cover around, numerous tornado reports were recorded across portions of central Illinois. Including a few near McDonough County in our area. [ link to twitter.com (secure)] Quoting: KickinIt Wow... that's just crazy for December! Quoting: mistersplinter Very crazy weather for this time of year, especially all those tornadoes!!!!! Our crazy weather? A dusting of snow - that's it! |

“New summit lava lake, resumption of eruption at Pu‘u ‘Ō‘ō, lava flows in Puna, further summit collapses, explosive eruptions from the summit, eventual collapse of the entire summit, renewal of caldera filling with lava eventually overtopping the caldera rim, decreased magma supply so that the quiet lingers for years, increased magma supply so that the quiet ends in months, resumption of Mauna Loa activity…or something else?” |

Quoting: Luisport Plot map of all Hawaii EQs magnitude 0.0 and greater for the past 30 days. You can really see how the activity is spread all over the island. Main swarms continue at Kilauea and areas south where all the fissures are. Mauna Loa continues to be busy as well, with some of the most recent quakes at surface level.
