How are you doing, by the way?

Having a pretty good Sunday. Now that my taxes are out of the way I'm just doing random minor stuff around the house and prepping for my week ahead. Sorry you have to spend your sunday working.

I'm feeling pretty good. I've been putting off doing my taxes for weeks (took a while to get my W2 from my former employer, and once I did I had lost the energy for it). Finally did them today, begrudgingly. Only took me an hour, and somehow I am not being asked to pay the penalty for no insurance last year. So, in addition to not owing a bunch of money, I am now getting a small chunk of money back.

Not sure why I don't have to pay the penalty, because that is supposed to still be in effect for 2017, but if turbotax says I don't need to pay, then I'm gonna listen!

Re: Earthquake Thread ~ Always Updated
Well, for me it was quite the uproar on a quiet Sunday afternoon.

I got on the train to Zevenaar to visit my sister and I saw someone I knew in the compartment. Hadn't seen him in years, we called him the Pigeon Man, because he, well duh, was very much into keeping prize pigeons. Sad story really. He came home one day and found a $500.000 check on the table from some Japanese guy with a note that read: "I bought your prize pigeon. This cheque is for you. Your wife was insisting I would take her too and after some debating I agreed, but I am not going to add a dime for her. Sayonara." After 35 years of marriage, pigeon and wife gone (not particularly necessary in that order.)

Anyway, I greeted the Pigeon Man a bit loudly and immediately there was this hissing from all sides: "Shhhhhh!" I looked around me and said: "Krijg nou wat! (What the fuck!)" A fancy dressed woman, playing Candy Crush on her phone, sighed overdone and rolled her eyes. I scratched my head, sat down and greeted my long lost friend again: "How are you PM??" Again this hissing, louder even: "SHHHHHHHHH!!!!"

The Pigeon Man pointed at a sign on the compartment window with a picture of a face with with a finger before the lips and it read "Silence Compartment." What the hell. I was ready for some rioting. I said: "So here we are, in a packed compartiment, in a society that could use some more interaction between people and now that we have a chance to get to know each other, we sit with our mouths shut in a silly silence compartment. Come on people! This can't be true!"

Needless to say, my statement fell on deaf ears. It only got more hissing and sighing and eyes rolling. The Pigeon Man pointed me at a man and a woman at the other side of the isle, sitting opposite each other, stern looking. "Jannie and John. They are regulars in this compartment, already for five years non stop. They celebrated their 25 year anniversary in here as well, in silence of course."

I told him: "What a strange world we live in. On our way to tomorrow in a society that is getting colder and more hectic, we meet in a quiet compartment and exchange selfies through Facebook or play Candy Crush to get more lives, meanwhile letting our own life pass us by. Call me bonkers, but I can't get used to it."

He nodded and told me his story. I saw the sadness in his eyes when he told me that he found his prize pigeon early that week, totally distraught from the long flight home: "I woke up this morning and there she was, my Coo, outside the window. I hardly recognized her. She attempted her cooing in Japanese, but seemed totally lost in translation. I had to take her to the S.D.P." I replied: "The Social Democratic Party? Why.. " He interrupted me with anger in his voice: "Social..what the heck are you talking about? I am talking about the S.D.P! Shelter for Discarded Pigeons. It was heartbreaking."

His outburst lead to another wave of loud hissing. I apologetically raised my hands, when my phone rang a tad too loud. And while Maywood's tune Rio blasted through the silence compartment, the stern looking husband on the other side of the isle blurted: "OKAY! I'VE HAD BLOODY WELL ENOUGH! All that whispering, the ticking, the fiddling and twiddling. For fuck's sake! So, so sick of it!" He looked at his wife and said: "Well, come on woman, say something!!" She looked at him, totally enraged and yelled: "Say something?? I have totally had it with you, with you and your chatter mouth. As soon as we get off this train, I'm divorcing you!"

I looked around me and saw about fifty pair of eyes staring at me. I felt the situation would escalate quite rapidly. And then comes the moment you realize yourself that you have to chose between silence and speed. I decided to take the latter route. The Candy Crush lady yelled: "Get him!" In a ultimate but useless attempt I tried to control the situation by saying: "Come one now people, only calmness can safe us", meanwhile trying to reach the sliding door of the next compartment, I felt I was lifted by a number of grasping hands.

Under the loud cheering and chanting of my fellow travelers I flew through the compartment like a crowd surfer and while my light slowly faded I remember thinking: "Well, so much for age. More than enough words, but a total lack of speed and fitness. I should have taken the advice and gotten that Basic Fit subscription after all." And in that thought, silence followed fast...

Needless to say my visit to my sister had to be postponed.

I can't help but notice when looking at the interactive quake map that Peru is totally silent while there is plenty of activity to its south and north. This deep one should spark a larger one nearby. Wonder if Peru will be the victim (or possibly Colombia, but Peru seems more likely with all the movement in Chile)

Recap: He noted the deep 5.1 in New Zealand, and said to expect a possible 6.6 in NZ in next 7 days.

Also noted the deep 569km quake in Argentina yesterday. Said there's the potential for a 6.7 in the nearby silent areas. He said those silent areas are to the south in Argentina as well as to the north in Bolivia, and that this could actually mean 2 separate quakes of this size in each direction.

Around the 9:00 min. mark the deep Ecuador quake hit, and he got all excited due to it only being within 10 minutes of the equally deep 750km NZ quake. He said this is rare and evidence of movement deep below the pacific plate. Said to expect larger movement in the very near future, because that energy has to hit the surface. He will get into more specifics on that in his weekly forecast which will be done later tonight.
