Felt the quake here at work, too. Interesting thing about it is this:

The quake was not that large at 5.0, right?
And it was fairly deep.

So why was it felt over such a large area?

No, it was not the Denali fault, lol That one runs east of the mountain and in fact, they didn't now the extent of that fault until the big one some years back. THAT one, my house did the "rock and roll" big time!

Hey AKObserver, do you think that might be some sort of calibration mark, on that graph?

I hope so!

Felt the quake myself, down here closer to Anchorage.

 Quoting: suvalley

Today's quake was different it went sideways instead of up and down almost like rubbing motion. They said the 2002 did that and was a strike slip but it felt like up and down and lasted a long time.

I experienced that 2002 Denali Fault quake too my house was literally hopping for what seemed an eternity there's was actually 3 faults involved in that quake the previously undiscovered Susitna Glacier Fault, the Denali Fault and the Totschunda Fault.

The Denali Fault line runs all the way into Canada The Denali Fault is a major intracontinental dextral (right lateral) strike-slip fault in western North America, extending from northwestern British Columbia, Canada to the central region of the U.S. state of Alaska.[1] Alaska’s network of faults is a result of tectonic activity; the Pacific Plate is actively subducting (sliding under) the North American Plate, and the Denali Fault is located on the boundary between the two plates
[link to en.wikipedia.org]

looking at what's been happening lately

[link to www.aeic.alaska.edu]

either that fault line will rupture again or with all the Cook Inlet/Prince William Sound activity and Cape Yakataga we could see a mega thrust event along the fault that runs from Russia to Queen Charlotte jmo

[link to www.geology.cwu.edu]

We need to watch lower 48 for Seiches it's a big clue.

AKO sideways? That's good you observed... some people when they feel quakes they kinda freak or just don't even care... and than theres those of us that "feel" it and observe it as best we can...
In So Cal, I was in enough quakes and sometimes I thought I felt the "P" wave (?) before they happened...
I once woke up from it in the middle of the night, heard all the dogs barking at not one certain thing; woke up my friends, and one that a dresser would have fallen on...
I was just happy she was safe!

Peace

Yes I've felt those before too! Dogs bark and whine at 'the nothing' I've felt dizzy and nauseous and my ears do the high pitch whistling thing too! The more we observe the more we can learn freaking out causes more accidents then the event and screamers drive me nuts! lol.

Earthquakes rocking the Plains at higher rate, but no evidence ‘big one’ is imminent

While dozens of earthquakes have been rippling through Kansas recently, most have been barely felt by residents.
But does heightened seismic activity warn of bigger quakes to come?
Not likely, geophysicists and seismologists say. At the same time, they’re quick to add they can’t predict earthquakes.
