Best time to view is after midnight tonight, and before sunrise. But the window of time to see it is longer so you'll still have a few nights to watch for some. : )

Think it was 2 or 3 years ago.. during the perseids meteor shower. I was laying on the hood of my car smoking a joint with my earbuds in, listening to music, watching the show after I drove an hour west towards the Appalachian... layed there for around 2 hours in the early morning and must have seen close to 60! Easily the most I've ever seen. Absolutely incredible

WTF??

#Succulent plant heist — how California’s wild succulent plants are a target of poachers seeking to illegally export them abroad, and how a diligent California game warden cracked the case, with the help of an eagle-eyed postal customer.

This was from a couple of days ago from a local TV weather anchor. The freeway view of the poppies along Interstate 5 south of Bakersfield. This could be in the same area.

Have you seen the Grapevine lately?

Nights still get pretty cold, but tomorrow and Monday will be upper 50's and Tuesday will be in the 60's.

Gets warmest mid-day on our 'warm' days lol.

Several years ago on a whim during the peak of the perseid meteor shower, a friend and I drove to Cahokia Mounds in Illinois at midnight to watch it.

If you're not familiar with Cahokia Mounds: [link to en.wikipedia.org (secure)]

It was super cool. We climbed to the top of a mound, threw a blanket down, and laid there for about 3 hours watching the stars. The shooting stars felt constant. I have no idea how many we saw, but it was a lot.
