When is the right time to get ready for new years???

Another spin - another win. I lucked out and got NYE off. Though i probably wont do a damn thing
 Quoting: Master of Nothing

Awesome! Glad to hear you don't have to work NYE. I won't be doing a damn thing either. Nef will be working so I'll either be home alone or home with Mini and her friends.

Such an exciting life lol! I prefer staying home. I could go meet up with friends/family at the bar, but that whole scene just isn't my style.
 Quoting: Simple27

I enjoy being alone these days. I used to be such a crazy, social party animal, but just like you i can't do the bar scene any more. But hey - i'll have a cyber drank with yalls again this year.

I'm just like you - have slowly become more introverted. Used to be you wouldn't catch me at home on a Friday or Saturday night, much less NYE. However, I'm also older than you so some of it is just slowing down in general.

The last 5 years or so I've gone out early - like 5 or 6, then was home by 9 or 10. I grew to like that system, it was sorta the best of both worlds. Last year went to a friend's, but the few years before that I met people at a neighborhood bar. Not crowded at all since we go so early (and since people tend to head out later on NYE). This year I'm leaning towards not going anywhere at all though. It's come to that, lol, I've tapered down to not leaving the house on NYE. So yeah, I will probably be here with you fine folks again this year, but this time probably for the whole evening.

Gotta be at work at 8 NYD!

All good tho. How's your day off goin?
 Quoting: Master of Nothing

For fuck's sake, that place is open on NYD? That's ridiculous.

My day is ok, just getting motivated. I just realized I never got a personal property tax bill for this year. I knew immediately it had something to do with my move, which was over a year ago, but last year I had to pay based on my old address since that's where I started the year at. I thought all of this was taken care of online, but apparently that's not enough, I'm supposed to go in person to officially change things to the new address. anywhoo, now I have to deal with damn city hall today, which is not what I want to be doing but at least I figured it out before the 31st.

 Quoting: KickinIt

I hear that stress! In a similar fucky situation...I can't pay my car registration because there is a "stop" on my other car. Can't pay that, can't get registered. Already been on the phone for a few hours trying to get it resolved. I think i'm just going to drive illegally, all the time, going forward. HOpe you don't have too big of a headache getting that all taken care of.
 Quoting: Master of Nothing

I got there and of course being the end of they year it was slammed. Preface to the story: When I moved in 2017, although I only moved a mile from where I was, I changed counties. So things are done differently than I'm used to, and in a much more fucked up, archaic way. I notified this new county of my established residence back when I moved - got the instructions off their damn website. No option to "register" online (ridiculous), I had to print off a form and send it in. Which I did. At the same time, I also changed my voter registration, my plates/driver's license, etc. to the new address. I even got a notice at my address this summer when it was time to renew my license, so I know it all went through. Well, when I called this morning realizing I never got a personal property tax bill, they said it's because I needed to come IN PERSON to declare my residency and my property after the move. Which no one (including the website, or the form) told me I had to do.

So, I get there and they are on #31 and I had #2. Which meant I had to go all the way through 99 until they started over again. I about died. Long story short, so many people ended up leaving that they got to my number in about an hour and 1/2, which was much better than I anticipated. The lady who helped me told me I didn't actually have to come in person, I just "needed to send in a form" when I moved. I told her I DID do exactly that, as I had researched all this well in advance and it seemed to work fine for everything but this, and she basically said, "no you didn't". Interestingly, I was talking to a man while waiting who said he moved 3 years ago and has to go through this nonsense every year, because they can't seen to get it right despite him coming in each year to fix the issue and get his bill.

So anyway, after she gets me in the system she tells me to wait and she'll hand me a bill. She said I could pay it by mail if I didn't want to do it today, which was great, because I didn't want to have to go wait in another line to pay it there (yep, that's a separate office/line). After a few minutes they hand me something which I thought was my bill, and I walked off. I glanced down to see what I owe, and it doesn't have an amount! I go back in and ask them WTH, and they tell me I have to go wait in that other line to GET the actual bill, whether or not I want to pay it today. FUCK. So I went into the other office and saw the line and about died, but thankfully some guy saw my frustration and told me if I only wanted the printout of the bill and wasn't going to pay today, I didn't need to wait. So it only took a few minutes there, but why the fuck don't they just give you the print out of the damn bill in the other line where you do everything else, instead of making us take a piece of paper to another location for the damn printout!?!

Most stupid ass system I've ever seen. I hope to god I don't have to go through that every year.

Sorry for the long rant. MoN, I feel for you, your situation sounds even more frustrating than mine, and not easily fixed. I've said it before and I'll say it again, all of these govt. agencies purposely make things convoluted and difficult so that we throw up our hands and give up - ultimately paying higher fees, late fees, whatever later on. Those bastards will not get a late fee from me! They can go to hell.

Tuesday, January 1, 2019 will be my 25th anniversary. We planned on getting rings, a replacement for his and an added anniversary band for me. We procrastinated. Yup, we are going tomorrow, if I am feeling up to it, to look and pick out rings.

He was 155 lbs at 6'1" when we married. I said he was borderline anorexia!!! He has gained about 65 or so pounds since then and they will have to cut the band off his finger, no way it will come off otherwise. When that is done, they still won't know what size his ring should be because of the divot his wedding band has left on his finger - rofl. He is a big bones man and wore a #11 1/2 25 years ago - not much telling how big it needs to be now. His right hand is #13 he thought they told him.
He doesn't want it cut off because I had it engraved with our names and date on the inside and we have no idea where an empty place would be.

Me? I am still the same as long as I am not retaining water, size #5 3/4. It is amazing that I am for I have gained a small ton in 25 years. It all went to my butt lol

I didn't want him to get a new band but for the health of his finger, he really needs to. He wanted a new wedding set for me and I simply and firmly said NO! They are my bands and I won't take them off.

I think getting new rings for the occasion is a nice sentiment. It is too bad your hubs must have his cut off, but for god's sake, if that's the case then that thing needs to come off! His finger is probably going to feel good once it's free. I get claustrophobic just thinking of it, lol.

25 years is certainly something to celebrate and be proud of. Congrats!
