Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Re: Earthquake Thread ~ Always Updated Remember I posted last week about the ocean receding from Brazil down to Uruguay? I believe that occurred on the 11th. Well, it happened again 2 days later in a different part of Brazil. In addition, 2 days before the first event, on the other side of the continent, oddly huge waves were hitting the coast of Chile. None have been fully explained yet, but they continue to blame unusual offshore winds. Oceans in Opposition: Giant Pacific waves crash in Chile while another historical Atlantic Ocean receding is reported in Brazil [ link to www.earthquakepredict.com] EDIT TO ADD:Found this possible explanation for the ocean recede: "The Uruguayan Meteorological Institute (INUMET) had issued orange wind warnings earlier for Montevideo, Canelones, Maldonado, Rocha and Lavalleja. According to El Pais as reported in Elonce, the spokesman for the National Navy, Gastón Jaunsolo, said the phenomenon was caused by strong winds coming from the north.
Waters returned to those coastal areas of Uruguay and Brazil some 36 hours later according to Noticias RCN. Such a phenomenon occurring in areas so far apart on the South American eastern coastline are likely caused by more than just 'northerly winds'. Also the effects of an underwater earthquake or volcano eruption would have been felt in a matter of hours, not days.
Juan Carlos Ramos García, director of CIEM, International Corps of Emergencies, suggests that a phenomenon called a meteotsunami is the cause.
Meteotsunamis are generated when rapid changes in barometric pressure cause the displacement of a body of water. In contrast to "ordinary" impulse-type tsunami sources, a traveling atmospheric disturbance normally interacts with the ocean over a limited period of time (from several minutes to several hours)
Ramos Garcia further explained that this meteorological disturbance was caused "by gravitational waves, not by winds". "Can't link the article where the above is from, but it was taken/translated from this article: [ link to www.noticiasrcn.com] Also, here is a video of the crazy waves in Chile! EDIT #2: Just discovered there was a thread on the Chile waves: Thread: Check out these Waves yesterday in Chilie! Something big is going to Happen? Quoting: KickinIt Me too! And I love the slow cooker. That's the only way I could pull it off lol. What do you have with the beef you're making? Quoting: Simple27 I'll give you the recipe. It's delicious. If you've ever had the barbacoa at Chipotle, it tastes like that. 3-4 lb chuck roast 3-4 chipotles in adobo sauce, chopped (I also throw in a few tablespoons of the adobo sauce) 4 cloves garlic, crushed or chopped 2.5 tsp cumin 3 tsp oregano (ideally Mexican oregano) 1/4 tsp ground cloves 1 tsp salt 1/2 tsp pepper 1/2c beef broth 1/4c apple cider vinegar 1/4c fresh lime juice 3 bay leaves I cut the beef into large chunks and brown it first. Mix the rest of the ingredients and pour over the beef. Cook on low for 7-8hrs, shred, then return to crock pot w/juice until serving. I also pickled some red onion and radish as a condiment for beef tacos. |
