It's a cold, windy, rainy day here today so I decided to watch a movie. I stumbled upon this. Just finished watching it now. EXCELLENT movie!!

Big Miracle

Inspired by a true story.

In small town Alaska, a news reporter recruits his ex-girlfriend - a Greenpeace volunteer - on a campaign to save a family of gray whales trapped by rapidly forming ice in the Arctic Circle.

SO GOOD!!!

Love that movie! Remember when she (Drew Barrymore) was up here.

You might like this it's the original story

To mark the launch of the movie, Big Miracle starring Drew Barrymore, about the 1988 rescue of grey whales in Alaska, we're publishing this fascinating story by Campbell Plowden. Plowden, then a Greenpeace whales campaigner, describes one of the craziest weeks in his 14 years with Greenpeace, and puts the whale rescue story dramatized the movie Big Miracle in the context of a wider campaign to end whaling worldwide.

Snow-vember! Areas of Midlands surprised by early snowfall

A record-breaking snow unexpectedly fell across western parts of the Midlands on Saturday morning, a fun surprise for some but, for thousands who lost power, an ominous start to the colder season.

Snowfall at Columbia Metropolitan Airport on Nov. 1 is the earliest on record, according to the National Weather Service. The previous mark was Nov. 9, 1913.

Got a question for you all. This isn't to pick on you, rather I am just curious as to why, so no offense.

Why do so many people nowadays, use such nasty language all the time? I have seen good Christians, Hebrews and others cuss with the best of them. I have seen small children using words I am appalled at. F is used so often on GLP, you'd think it was candy or alcohol. Even the C word is becoming mainstream and I detest that word.

Can anyone explain this to this old woman??

UPDATE: Magnitude of earthquake off Fiji upgraded to 7.1

The 7.1-magnitude earthquake at 7:57 a.m. local time on Sunday (1857 GMT Saturday) was centered about 141 kilometers (88 miles) northeast of Ndoi Island, a small island which is part of Fiji. It struck about 434.4 kilometers (269.9 miles) deep, making it a deep earthquake, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).

The earthquake was initially measured at 6.9 but was later upgraded to 7.1.

Computer models estimated that approximately 104,000 people on islands in the region may have felt weak or light shaking from Sunday’s earthquake, the USGS said, but there were no reports of damage or casualties. The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said the earthquake struck too deep below the seabed to pose a tsunami threat.

I'm far from an old man. I'm not even middle aged yet. But I've noticed lately yes. I've really noticed it about the last 4 or 5 years. It seems to be Junior High kids high school kids and just about everybody their 20s. And its not even like people use when they're mad or they're arguing. It's like they just use it in normal conversations way too much.

Also the C word, is actually fairly popular slang word and has been for a long time in England. In England the C word is actually not considered near as offensive and bad as it is here in the US. I think its just trendy now in the US to use it all the time.

Words are merely words. It isn't the words that offensive, but rather the sentiment behind them by those who speak them.

The real rub is when they are taken with the same sentiment by those who hear them.

Change always begins with ourselves.
