I was told I have to have a bone marrow biopsy. : (
Quoting: Simple27 Simple
I hope that it is a quick and easy procedure.

Quoting: joinca Doctor told me not to YouTube it, lol. Kinda scared me even more. Just a new fear to spin in my mind until November 10th when it's being done.
That was definitely one of the top few things I didn't want to hear today. :\
I'll just have to find a way to sedate myself because they don't do that. Dumb. They should.
Quoting: Simple27 OMG Simple, you'll be in my thoughts & prayers!! (I'll be in the hospital the 9-11th for the repeat colonoscopy & some other tests). I actually had a bone marrow biopsy a couple of weeks ago-one of the reasons I haven't been around GLP much, it just seems like every time I go in for one thing, they find something else. (Reason for my biopsy was my platelet count has been inordinately HIGH while having major problems with bruising & bleeding. My HCT & Hgb have also been LOW) I don't know the results of the biopsy yet...my primary has been really sick, I got a nasty sinus infection that turned into pauemonia & we decided to wait for the other tests-instead of having to go in twice-a-week.
As you already know, I'm already on pain meds and because I don't take them like I'm supposed to, they told me to just take my regular dose before the biopsy, then they gave a local. I'll be honest, it still hurt-BUT, part of that was the anesthesiologist who did it was having a hard time. Because my joints (including my hip) are different than "normal" people's, he had an older MRI of my hip up on the light board-BUT, I've had several fractures since the MRI. We didn't think it would matter-but it did.
I've actually had a couple of marrow sticks before because I registered as a donor-they didn't hurt THAT bad before, so I think this time was just the doc who did it.
One of the main problems I had with patients getting spinal or hip sticks was patients "freezing-up" or actually shaking with fear because people had scared them about the procedures. Believe me, as both a former medical professional and a patient with WAY too damned much personal experience-it helps, more than ANYTHING, if you can RELAX-even if they need to give you something! It goes quicker and is a LOT less painful!!
Also, In the past 15 years, since I learned how to meditate-and different ways to meditate; it's something I usually use for these kinds of tests or other procedures I've been through (i.e.: setting a broken hip, spinal tap, biopsy).
Let me know if you have any questions!!
