I'm with EAT. I like metaphors. And this is one of mine...
The earth is a body. It has veins, arteries and a heart. The 'brain' of it is space.
The plates are the bones of its' body. They grow, move, crack under stress.
The magma chambers are the arteries through which the earths' lifeblood is constantly moving and being nourished. These extend from the core..the heart of the earth.
The veins are the vents, like Old Faithful. They help maintain a constant pressure in the arteries.
Space, or the brain, influences the earth. The moon causes tidal flow, the sun causes crustal heating.
And the atmosphere is the lungs of the earth. Breathing in clean oxygen from the plants...the 'food'.
Just as in a human body, the earth experiences disease or ailment. Things go off kilter. One ailment can lead to another if not remedied and they are all connected.
Sometimes, however, an anomaly appears that has nothing whatsoever to do with any other part of the body...a tumor, or weakness.
The earth is about to experience a plethora of those...nothing will make sense.

A rock in bad hands killed Abel. A rock in good hands killed Goliath. It isn't about the rock.
A true warrior fights not because he hates the one in front of him, but because he loves those behind him.
