A story...sorta funny, but mostly just real/truth/facts.
We live on a rather small street that is listed as a dead end and mostly is a dead end, with the exception of being able to cut through the back parking lot of the high school that is across the street.
In lieu of a string of neighbors living across the street, we have a high school, and only have neighbors on our one side of the street.
Nef noticed that one of the houses on this street has a yard, front and back (back from what we are able to see), that clearly hasn't been cared for at all yet this year. Grass is super long. Like jungle status long. He asked me about that house tonight after work and I told him that an older woman lives there alone and that she is on oxygen.
I couldn't/can't recall the last time I saw her, but remembered that she was older and on oxygen from when they were filming that movie at the high school with The Rock a few years back. I had sat on her porch with her and was talking with her. But haven't since then.
Anywho, I was able to convince my anxiety-filled Mini to walk down there with her girlfriend to knock on the door and see if the older woman needed help with the lawn. And make sure she's actually okay in there! Nef would have knocked on the door himself, but I didn't think it was a good idea to have a 6'4" man knocking on the door of an elderly woman's home unexpectedly. It may have made her nervous and afraid to answer.
So Mini and her girlfriend walked down, knocked and the older woman did answer the door. She was most appreciative and said that someone was supposed to have come to care for her lawn and hadn't, and that if we notice it looking the same next Friday that she would love the help. She also recognized/remembered Mini.
: )
Mini is so painfully shy. Her girlfriend had to do all of the talking. And she tried to chicken shit out her first go round. I kept telling her these are
GOD KARMA POINTS and that her act of kindness will not go unnoticed.
