Hey all! Doing a quick check-in...
Happy Birthday, Joinca! Hope you have a wonderful day, dental visit notwithstanding!!!! Hope they gave you a birthday discount!!!
Thanks to all for the updates and informative videos and posts. Y'all are the greatest!
We had an interesting weekend, to say the least. Saturday morning Baby S and hubby went out back to feed dogs, cats, and chickens as per usual. They came back in and I knew something was wrong. Baby S wasn't crying, but was very upset. I nearly had a cow when she came in the room. The biggest of our 7 roosters, the dumb black one as she calls it now, had attacked her. He scratched her right ear barely and left a 1/4" cut on her cheek. He ripped her left ear lobe clear through from just below where it attaches to the head. Blood everywhere. I washed it off a bit, determined it was ripped clear through, and off to the ER we went. We were there 7 hours, because it was so busy. Don't want to do that again - holding her down so they could give her sedation, then holding her down to get lidocaine shots in the lobe and 7 stitches. If they'd taken my blood pressure then, they'd have had to admit me!!! Once we got home, she started feeling better and played and was her normal self for the evening. Then overnight she started having nasal congestion bad, and running a fever. She's actually feeling much better today, and we are going in soon for a nap. I probably need it more than she does.
Edit to add: the dumb black rooster is deceased. Henry carries everywhere he goes. Rooster met his maker before Henry left the chicken yard. No second chances.
At any rate, life is slowly getting back to a more normal state. Now I have a couple of days of catching up to do on chores, etc. Not gonna kill myself on any of them.
Hope y'all have a great week!
Think I may binge on some leftover Thanksgiving desserts....
